I know what a story board is, but what I did not know was how important it is. Sam the illustrator and her wizard hands put it all together. The story board is how the book will look in the form of small frames. Each page is linked to what part of the poem is to have on it. Or if there is no writing at all or if its a double page spread or if its smaller pictures or if its a pop up or if its just a page of writing. Did I get enough 'Or's' in??

A story board breaks everything down page by page, from the empty pages at the front and the empty pages at the back (these are known as end pages). It gives us the basic layout. By doing this it gives us a visual idea of how the finished product will look, and trust me I am getting very excited about it. We have a mix of everything we think in our book. With close ups of the characters taking up a whole page to a full middle page spread of just a beautiful illustration.

Also the little boards are removable! How cool is that! So if we needed to swap things round we could. The numbers correspond to the page numbers this helped so we knew where the middle page would be and could have a big spread of illustrations. Also you can see in the pictures that we have four pictures in one. There is probably a special name for it but I am still learning and I will let you know when Sam tells me!

So we are still on track with all this ! Next time when Sam and I meet up we should hopefully have a dummy book to show you, also we are both doing some research on which agents to send to, if any one has any ideas let us know in the comments below.

Top tips

- Story boards take time, so take the time. Talk about it and what you want in the finished product.

-Leave space for notes! Don't be afraid to write all over it, no matter what Sam says!

- Removable panels. Yes, Yes and yes again. Play around with it, you might find that it works a better way, or not. The only way to find out is to try it. Plus its fun.

That's all for now folks!
