They arrived 50 very shiny business cards! They are just so beautiful! So keep an eye out for these as I will be handing them out and hopefully getting more interest in our yearish long project.
So What the idea behind getting business cards?
Honestly we want to look professional! Need we say more!
We decided to get these to not only give us a confidence boost but to network with other writers and illustrators. We know we are not alone in this children's literacy world and would love to connect with others in the same boat. Sharing tips and such, because that's what its all about, isn't it?
As a duo we would highly recommend Moo.com. Sam has used them previously for her business and couldn't recommend them highly enough. They are reasonably priced and look so smart. Sam talked me out of getting 1000 business cards, Sam is sensible, be like Sam. She is right though, explain that we should start out with 50 and see how we get on, we may in the future want to change the design or update emails and stuff. So be smart and be like Sam.
Top Tips
-Order a small batch of business cards first, keep the cost low. Then hand out as many as possible to people who have a vested interest. you can always order more.
-Keep talking about! Tell as many as possible, word of mouth is still the best form of communication. People will then start to ask you how you are getting on. This will give you a confidence boost and to pull your finger out and write that blog ! (guilty)
Its small steps for us, and getting noticed will be an up hill struggle but I will let you in to a secret ....... 'mamma didn't raise no quitter!'
Make a comment below if you have any tips for us on spreading the word, would love to hear from you.
Any way its time for some research into potential agents. Its almost time to get the dummy book out and sent. (Sam is feeling really scared about this!, not me I am super excited)
